Ella Yang
Yang, a native New Yorker, is a mostly self-taught representational oil painter based in Brooklyn. After a long hiatus from art making, she realized her dream of studying art in Italy during the summer of 2001. In 2006, she spent a month at the internationally recognized artist residency program, the Vermont Studio Center, and later that year she was included in the book 100 New York Painters,? by C.M. Dantzic, published by Schiffer Books.Today, her paintings are in private collections in the USA, as well as Hong Kong, Italy, France, and Austria, and she exhibits regularly in juried and invitational exhibitions in the Northeast.Working primarily en plein air? when the weather permits, Yang also works from sketches and photos. She favors scenes where the man-made interacts with Nature. Her paintings are infused with light and color; often her chosen views might not have obvious aesthetic appeal, but in her eyes the commonplace seems to have a special patina.
