Ann Northrup

Ann Northrup received her Master of Fine Arts degree from Boston University, studying with Philip Guston and James Weeks, She is a master of painterly realism, with a focus on landscape and figures. She is well-known in Philadelphia for her large-scale outdoor murals and her lyrical easel paintings. Her work has been often cited in books, travel and journalistic pieces and art reviews.Northrup has been honored with a number of grants and awards, including: the Art without Boundaries Award, the Independence Foundation Grant, the Robbins Traveling Fellowship, PA Council on the Arts grants, the CFEVA Alumni Travel Grant and artist?s residency grants from Ucross Foundation in WY and Headlands Center for the Arts in CA. She has won exhibition prizes at Philadelphia University, Perkins Center for the Arts, The Port of History Museum, Muhlenberg College and Cheltenham Art Center.For many years, she has taught drawing and design at Philadelphia University, Drexel University, University of the Arts, Boston University and the Art Institute of Boston. Her work is in collections across the US and internationally, including Boston University, Philadelphia University, White Williams Insurance Co, McGraw Hill Publishing Co, and The Marriott Hotels.
